What is New

 v 2.0.00

  1. Eight New Sculpting Tools were added

    • Paint Push, Paint Pull, Paint Pinch, Paint Stretch, Paint Smooth, Paint Sharpen, Paint Blend, Paint Smudge tools will give you incredible abilities of sculpting your models.

  2. Symmetry feature added

    • You can make symmetrical sculpting within all 14 tools now.

  3. Brush patterns added.

    • You can use patterns provided with LBrush package or load any own image to use as pattern.

  4. Renaming of Phoneme Targets enabled

    • Label of any of Phoneme Targets can be changed to more appropriate for you.

  5. Workflow of recoding Performance Group animation changed

    • Animation recoding workflow is more straight ahead with new REC tool.

  6. The interpolation for performance group keys added.

    • There is no need to to keep keys for every frame now, so you can now delete keys to optimize your animations.

  7. Built-in Raytracer is used for tools hit testing

    • Brush glides faster even on big meshes.

  8. Scene Save/Load improved

    • Makes more compact files (50% of space save)

  9. Support for Wacom tablets added

    • Strength of brush tools is adjusted by stylus pressure.

  10. Change in licensing - net rendering does not require a license now.

 v 3.0.00

  1. Vertex Color painting added

    • You can paint vertex color of mesh now not only deform geometry. Vertex color paint and mesh sculpting can be performed separately or at once.

    • Animation is supported for vertex color as well. Vertex color can be loaded into animation targets and animated in the same way as geometry

  2. DirectX display for Edit Mode

    • DirectX display working quite faster than 3ds max native one and provides nice looking shading.

  3. New 'Flatten' tool

    • Tools separated into 2 palettes now:

      • Sculpt Tools: Translate, Rotate, Inflate, Smooth, Sharpen, Blend

      • Brush Tools: Paint Push, Paint Pull, Paint Pinch, Paint Stretch, Paint Smooth, Paint Sharpen, Paint Blend, Paint Smudge, Flatten

    • Brush Tools can affect vertex color.

  4. New Pattern features

    • Projective mode. Pattern image is projected from viewport and displayed as background image. So you can paint the texture directly to your mesh vertex color or use it for weighting tool strength.

    • Clone pixels feature for Projective Mode.

    • Aligning patterns to motion direction of the brush.

    • Chain Stamps. Patterns stamps are stacked one to another and form chain.

    • Color Mode. Some colored image can be used as pattern to paint vertex colors.

    • 'Render Z' tool added. It renders z-depth of actual mesh in the view and loads result as pattern.

  5. Bake to texture features

    • Normal map in tangent and object space

    • Displacement and displacement direction.

    • Vertex color.

  6. Subdivisions for geometry and vertex color added

    • You can create, remove, navigate and sculpt (paint) subdivision levels.

  7. Animation support for subdivisions.

    • Animation targets (Phoneme Targets, Performance Groups) subdivided automatically when new subdivision level created.

    • Number of subdivision levels used for viewport animation preview can be specified to increase performance.

  8. Bake to texture support for subdivisions.

    • Baked active subdivision level.

    • Lower subdivision level can be selected to generate low-poly tangent space of normal map.

  9. Vertex color import.

    • Texmap can be imported to vertex color.

  10. Stencil

    • Vertex color can be used as stencil for sculpting.

  11. Individual Tool Size and Strength for tools.

    • Size and Strength are set for each tool separately. So when tool switching tools brush size and strength are set to correspondent values.

  12. Selection stuff was moved to separate rollup.

    • It reduced the size of 'Sculpt' rollup and made tool more handy.

  13. New appearance of Tools.

    •  'Brush Tools Palette' and 'Sculpt Tools Palette' are showed due to tool active (Sculpt, Brush).
